Deaths for Friday, March 11, 2005:
Thelma Leaisure Bennett, 63
CHESTER - Thelma Leaisure Bennett, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March, 9, 2005, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
She was born May 22, 1941, in Chester and was preceded in death by her father, Okey W. Leaisure Sr.; brother, Robert Leaisure; and sister-in-law, Dot Leaisure.
Thelma graduated from Chester High School in 1959, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Newell First Church of the Nazarene, where she faithfully taught kindergarten Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Bennet, whom she married Oct. 15, 1963, at home;and her mother, Bernice A. (Newman) Leaisure.
Also surviving are brothers, Jim (Peggy) Leaisure of Columbia, S.C., Okey W. Leaisure Jr. of LaSalle, Texas, and Orville (Ann) Leaisure of Victoria, Texas; a sister, Judy (Bill) Zorrer of Levitttown, Pa.; and four sons, Joseph (Mary) Bennett of Chester, Bill Bennett of Lakeland, Fla., and Bob (Ruby) Bennett, Bernie (Megan) Bennett and Amy (Ralph) Flowers, all of Chester.
There are 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Arner Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Everett Clay of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
