On September 4, 2004, Carleene Jensen Rush, age 58, made her triumphant entry into her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born April 21, 1946 to Carl and Bertha Jensen of Blessing, TX.
Carleene was a graduate of Tidehaven High School and Wharton County Junior college. She worked for the Markham Municipal Utility District for twenty-two years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Markham. Her greatest achievement was her family. She was a wonderful, loving wife of thirty-seven years, the greatest mother to two sons and daughter-in-law and an "awesome" granny to her two grandchildren.
She is survived by husband, Carl W. Rush of Markham; two sons, Dean Rush of Markham and Rev. Wade Rush and wife Lisa of Odem, TX; and her greatest joy, two grandchildren, Hayden and Madison Rush of Odem, TX. She is also survived by her mother, Bertha Schutte Jensen of Blessing; two brothers, Curtis Jensen and family of Danevang, Carlton Jensen and family of Sugar Land; and mother-in-law, Louise Rush of Markham. She has 13 nephews and 3 nieces. Her father, Carl O. Jensen and father-in-law, Eugene Rush, Jr. preceded Carleene in death.
Carleene will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and her love for life. Carleene had a passion for serving the Lord. She gave many hours of service behind the scenes choosing to never be recognized for the endless hours she worked and served. She will be greatly missed by her church family. Though you have walked through those pearly gates, you are with us in spirit and shall remain in our hearts forever.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8PM Monday, Sept. 6th at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Markham, TX at 10 AM, September 7, 2004 with Dr. Howard Harper officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, TX. Pallbearers will be Kevin McKissick, Kenny McKissick, Carl H. Jensen, Brian Jensen, Louis Rush and Mark Rush. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Support Care, 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, TX 77437. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, TX (979) 245 - 4613.
