Dellver and Eileen Burrer
Del married Eileen Hoff on March 17, 1957. She was born June 28, 1929 on a farm
ten miles east of Eureka. She is the daughter of Henry M. and Lydia (Kraemer)
Hoff. She attended rural school and received her high school diploma from the
American School in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation, she worked in the
offices of Drs. R. H. and R. S. Isaak.
Del and Eileen lived in Eureka for six months after their marriage and then
bought the Adolph Haas farm, located nine miles east of Eureka. They have
lived there since. They lived on the farm two years when it was almost
completely destroyed by a tornado. It was a big cleanup and rebuilding project.
Del raises durum wheat and feeds calves each winter. They have always loved
horses and, at first, this was just a hobby. When Del purchased a Registered
Appaloosa mare, the hobby grew into a business. They have bred and raised
Appaloosa horses for more than twenty years, and, at one time, were standing
three stallions and keeping sixty brood mares. Raising, training and showing
the best of the offspring each year occupied most of their time. Burrers
Appaloosas have been shown and performed at the Western Stock Show in Denver
and the National and World Championship Appaloosa Horse Shows.
Del and Eileen belong to the Reformed Church in Eureka, the Appaloosa Horse
Club and the Dakota Rangers Saddle Club. Eileen is a member of the Reformed
Ladies Aid.
They have three children, Michael John, Kathleen Grace and Connie Sue.

Pierre, South Dakota.

attended South Dakota State University, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She lives in Aberdeen, South Dakota and
