Herbert Starkey, 83, of Grafton Township, passed away Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Southwest General Hospice Center, Strongsville, following a short illness. Mr. Starkey was born February 4, 1924 in Wheeling, WV, moving to Lakewood, Strongsville, Grafton Township. He had been a resident at Villas Camillus Nursing Home in Columbia Township for the past two years. Herbert retired as the head Custodian for McKinley Elementary School in Lakewood. He enjoyed camping and had been a member of the Shastaneers Camper Group. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte (nee Richner); daughter, Bonnie ( husband Tim) Adams, of Grafton Township; grandson, Christian (wife Suzanne) (nee Dearth) Adams, of Litchfield; and great-grandson, Gage Carlos Dearth Adams, of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bertha Sharkey; sister, Mildred Starkey, all from WV; and brother, Arthur Starkey, from MI. Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. There will be a private family burial in Belden Cemetery, Grafton Township.
