Obituary, The Barnesville Enterprise, November 6, 1970, P. 7, Column 2: James M. Hunkler - James M. Hunkler, resident of 323 N. Wabash Street, Wheeling Island, former Barnesville resident, passed away Thursday, November 6th at 5 a.m. at Wheeling Hospital. Mr. Hunkler was 65 years of age. He was born in Barnesville, August 16, 1905, a son of the late Benjamin and Anna Maguire Hunkler. He was a member of the Blessed Trinity Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, and had been employed at the Martins Ferry Plant of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Surviving are his widow, Geneva Phillips Hunkler of the home; one son James R. Hunkler of Columbus; one brother, Louis Hunkler of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Lillian) Grimes, Mrs. Albert C. (Helen) Lynn and Mrs. Borton (Polly) Moore, all of Barnesville and Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Taylor of Wheeling. The body was taken to the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, where friends were received. Mass of Participation was held Saturday, November 7th at 11 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Church with internment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. The Rosary was recited Friday evening at 8 at the funeral home.
