09/29/2004Funeral services will be held Fri-day at 10:30 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Brendans Church for Mildred "Marion" Gerst, 86, who entered into rest Tuesday evening at St. Marys Alzheimer Center in Columbiana. She was born Feb. 16, 1918 in Youngstown, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Zwick) Gerst. A 1936 graduate of Chaney High School, she had been employed for 30 years in sales at W.T. Grant Co. and also at Stambaugh Thompson. She was a member of the church and was an avid flower gardener and home decorator. She will be missed and remembered by many, including her two sisters, Margaret Gerst, and Virginia Barbush, both of Austintown, a niece, Mary Beth Barbush of Youngstown; and three nephews, Paul Wierzba of Wisconsin, David Wierzba of New Jersey, and John Barbush of Youngstown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Wierzba. Friends may call at the funeral home on today from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Alzheimer Center, Activity Fund.
