There will be funeral services Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Brendans Catholic Church for Margaret Gerst, 90, who entered into rest Wednesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Margaret was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Zwick) Gerst. She was a head cashier at A&P Grocery Store and a cake decorator at Uptown Bakery. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross in the blood bank for 10 years and a member of the church. She will be missed by many, including her sisters, Virginia Barbush Austintown; a niece, Mary Beth Barbush of Austintown; three nephews, John (Beth) Barbush of Youngstown, Paul Wierzba of Wisconsin and David (Michelle) Wierzba of California; and four great-nephews, Nick, Greg, Jake and Timothy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred (Marion) Gerst and Leona Wierzba. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
