Arthur “Art” Hoff, 100, Spearfish, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at Dorsett Regional Senior Care in Spearfish.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish, with Pastor Gene Bauman officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral service and burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.
Memorials can be given to Hospice of the Northern Hills in Spearfish.
Art was born on Jan. 16, 1908 to John and Fredricka Hoff in Eureka. He moved to Bison in the late 1920s where he lived and worked for many years. He moved to Spearfish in 1948. Art did various jobs in his lifetime. He farmed, raised sheep with his brother John, worked at the sugar factory in Belle Fourche, worked for the Rapid City School District, and also worked for Edwin Johnson as a contractor and painter until his retirement.
Art is survived by three brothers; Henry Hoff, Spearfish, Albert (Kari) Hoff, Bison, and Carl Hoff, Enumclaw, Wash., three sisters; Alice Looney, Calif., Alma Beholeveck, Ore., and Hilda (Louis) Simons, Rapid City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents and 11 of his siblings.
