Thelma M. MatzSource: The Monroe County Beacon, Woodsfield, Ohio, September 1995Miss Thelma M. Matz, 86, of 310 North Main Street, Woodsfield, died September 26, 1995, at Barnesville Hospital. She was born December 12, 1908, near Lewisville, Summit Township, Monroe County. She was the daughter of the late William F. Matz and Mary Ann Schaub Matz.She was the former auditor of Monroe County, Ohio, a retired employee of the Monroe County Department of Human Services, a member of the St. Paul Women?s Guild, former board member and executive director of the Monroe County Cancer Unit for more than 30 years, past president of Rebekah Lodge, member of VFW Auxiliary 5303 and a charter member of the Woodsfield Business and Professional Women?s Organization.Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy Matz, Chillicothe; five nephews, William E., Roger A., James F. and Marvin M. Matz and Thomas Hickinbotham; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Herzel (Freda) Matz of Murray, Kentucky; four nieces, Jean Rice, Mary Grace Stewart, Marta Kay Dale and Peggy Lynn Browne.She was preceded in death by three brothers, Herzel, Louis, and Leland Matz; one sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Francis Borns; one nephew, David Matz.Friends were received September 29 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services were held September 30 with the Reverend Donald Rock officiating. Interment in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Monroe County Unit, 106 North Main St., P. O.
