Matz, 79, of 1011 Orange Road, Ashland, died June 19 in the Samaritan Hospital in Ashland following a short illness. A native of Monroe County, he was born June 08, 1910, the son of Charles and Mary Ann Neibch Matz. A resident of Ashland for the past 32 years, he was a former employee of the Eagle Rubber Company retiring in 1972. Mr. Matz was a member of the Steele Avenue Church of Christ in Ashland. On Nov. 08, 1933 he was married to Nellie L. Morris who pre-deceased him on Aug. 13, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Normalee) Wilson and Mrs. Troy (Bertha) Cranmore, both of Ashland; two sons, Walter of Ashland and Clyde of Polk; 17 grandchildren; one brother, Harry Matz of Dalton. Services were held June 21 at 2p.m. From the Steele Avenue Church of Christ with Travis Irwin, minister, officiating. Burial was in the Ashland County Memorial Park.
