ZANESVILLE - Paul J. Dutro, 85, of Zanesville, died 7:07 PM Sunday, March 22, 2009 at The Clay House following a lengthy illness. He was born Monday, June 11, 1923 in Zanesville the son of Nathaniel 'Nat' and Florence (Horn) Dutro. He married Regina M. Burkhart Dutro on Saturday, October 4, 1958 and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Paul was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star. He served in Riverside, CA, New Guinea and Biak Island. He was an instructor of Mechanical Drawing at Heath Vocational School for 2 years and retired following many years of teaching from The Muskingum Area Joint Vocational School. He was a member of the K of C Council #505 and enjoyed woodworking, watching high school sports and traveling.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Lynne (Nolan) Foltz of Hawaii and Marsha (John) Harris of Zanesville; a son, Brian (Tammy) Dutro of Columbus; three grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren and Ethan Harris; one brother, Richard Dutro of Lakewood; and many nieces and nephews;
In addition to his wife; he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Jo Russi; two brothers, Robert 'Bob' Dutro and Nathaniel 'Nat' Dutro, Jr.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 5:30 PM, following with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 27, at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 12 Noon, Saturday, March 28 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Jordan Turano, OP as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 and The United States Army conducting Full Military Honors.
