She was born in Voder-weidental, Germany daughter of the late Richard and Louisa (Stoebner) Peter, and has lived in Westfield since 1954. Thea was the owner of the former Your Christian Store in Westfield, and was a co-host of Music from Germany at the former WDEW radio station. She leaves her husband of fifty years Richard W. Smith. She also leaves a son Frederick R. Smith of Westfield and a daughter Marita M. Barlow of Russell, and one brother Rudi Peter, and three sisters Herta Schwarz, Elizabeth Groh, and Tilly Matheis all of Germany, and was predeceased by a sister Hanna Mann. Thea also leaves five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral with burial in Germany will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are omitted.
