He attended country school and worked on the family farm located south of Fredonia. Gerhard?s father died in 1948 and Gerhard took over the duties of running of the farm operation.Gerhard was united in marriage to Leona Rudolf on July 1, 1953. He and Leona lived and worked on the farm until they retired and moved to Lehr in 1993. Gerhard entered the Wishek Living Center in April 2016 and resided there until his death.Gerhard is survived by his wife, Leona of Lehr; daughter, Lyla (Milo) Thompson of Bismarck, ND; two grandchildren, Rachelle (Darin Vrem) Littau of Boise, ID and Jonathan (Shawtee) Littau of Bismarck; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Dittus of Portland, OR and one sister, Marion Purcell of Tulsa, OK.Gerhard was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deborah Littau; son-in-law, LeRoy Littau; four brothers and four sisters.Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
