Bio: Published November 4, 2014 - Press EnterpriseGerald E. Burke, 74, of Berwick died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born April 27, 1940, in Berwick, he was the son of Glovene (Stout) Burke of Berwick and the late Russell Burke. A graduate of Berwick High School?s Class of 1959, he went on to work as a heavy equipment tire mechanic, retiring from Jack Williams Tire Company. He was a member of Beach Haven United Methodist Church. He could fix anything, and among his interests were woodworking, restoration, and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death were his grandson, Harley, and his sister, Bonnie Sitler. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sharon (Samsel) Burke; one daughter: Jenny, wife of Kurt Gause of Bloomsburg; three sons: James L. Burke and his partner Bud Whetstone of Tamaqua; John E. Burke and his wife Jacqueline of Cypress, Texas, and Jeffrey Burke and his wife Angela of Berwick; six grandchildren: Julie, Robert, Andrew, Erica, Nathan and Christian; four great-grandchildren: Dylan, Christopher, Chandler and Zoey; three brothers: James Burke and his wife Connie of Allentown; Jack Burke of Berwick, and Russell Burke Jr. of Berwick; and his four-legged kids: Phoebe, Abner, Daisy and Benjamin. A visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, from noon until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick, with the Rev. Susan Knorr, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Beach Haven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 157, Beach Haven, PA 18601.
