She lived at 804 Minnesota Ave., then Willow Glen residence she and her orchardist husband Emil, purchased in 1895. Her husband died in 1934. The woman who inspired all but two of her 10 sons and daughters to become teachers and school administrators, emigrated to this area at the age of 15 from her native Bundenthal, Germany. She first went to work as a domestic and later, after meeting and marrying her husband, settled down to the life of an orchardist.Of her nine surviving sons and daughters, seven are or were teachers or school administrators. The non - teaching members of the distinguished family are William J. Buchser, a San Jose businessman and Mrs. Steiner, a Galt housewife. As a mother of educators. Mrs Buchser probably came near to holding a national record.Others surviving are Emil R. Buchser of San Jose. who retired in 1961 as suuperintendent of Santa Clara City School district and Santa Clara High School District; Herman R. Buchser, president of San Jose City College; Mrs Pohlman retired principal of Lincoln Glen Elementary School; Mrs Emma Holthouse, a retired school teacher; Mrs. Genevieve Robidoux, retired Booksin Elementary School teacher and school text author. Lloyd L. Buchser principal of Roosevelt Junior High School, and Mrs Dorothy Christianson of Los Altos, a retired teacher. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Mary D.
