Memorials to the Prophetstown Unit School District in her memory would be appreciated.She was born on Sept. 2, 1933, in Lyndon, the daughter of Edward and Kathryn Cole Sippel. She was a graduate of Lyndon High School, where she was class valedictorian. JoAnne married Jack B. Melton on Sept. 15, 1951. He died in February 1986.She was employed as a secretary at the Lyndon/Prophetstown School District for 34 years. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Prophetstown.Surviving are her two sons, Randy Melton, Prophetstown, and Brett (Karen) Melton, Sterling; her grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Talley, Bush, La., and Garett Melton, Sterling.
