Bio: Robert Joe Keag, 72, of Erie, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society - Prophets Riverview facility in Prophetstown, IL. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 AM on January 6, 2015 at Gibson ? Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on January 5th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lake Erie Country Club or Good Samaritan Society ? Prophets Riverview, Prophetstown. Robert Joe Keag was born April 12, 1942 in Moline, IL, the son of Robert and Darlene (Schreiner) Keag. He graduatedfrom Erie High School in 1960. He received a Bachelor?s degree from Western Illinois University in 1966. Robert Joe married Sandra Tubbs on February 3, 1968. They later divorced. He went to work for Deere Harvester in 1966 as an engineer, retiring in 1992. He then worked for Deere as a consultant for another 10 years. He also enjoyed years of farming in addition to his career with Deere. Robert Joe was a member of the American Welding Society and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was an avid golfer and is a Past President of the Lake Erie Country Club. Throughout his life he enjoyed many outdoor activities including, boating, water skiing, and snowmobiling. He took an active interest in the commodities and stock markets, following them on a daily basis.Robert Joe is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Brad) Adams, Erie; grandson, Zachary Adams; brother, Ben (Bonnie) Keag, Erie; sister-in-law, Jane Keag,Erie; brother-in-law, George Seger, Erie, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Seger and brother, Thomas Keag.
