Beach Man Drowns In Bay Near Dock John E. Immel, 66, drowned yesterday when he apparently fell off the dock of his bayfront home at 3870 Belle Vista Drive E., in St. Petersburg Beach, Po lice Sergeant Ralph (Rusty) Caldwell said. Immel's body was discovered by his wife, Jean Immel, floating face down in 3.5 feet of water about 30 feet from the dock. Immel had gone out to the dock with his dog about 10 minutes earlier. Mrs. Immel went to in vestigate when the dog returned to the house alone and excited. THE BODY was brought to shore by two neighbors, Mrs. R. H. Lowenthal, 3860 Belle Vista Drive E., and John O'Rourke, 3850 Belle Vista Drive E. A rescue squad from the South Fire Station administered oxygen for about 30 minutes, but Immel was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor. Caldwell theorized that Immel, who was reported to be a good swimmer, blacked out and fell into the water. Caldwell said Im mel had visited a doctor Thurs-da for .treatment of a nervous condition. IMMEL WAS president of Anco Wood Specialties, Inc., Glendale, L.I., N.Y. Born in New York City, he moved here five and a half years ago from Little Neck, L.I., N.Y. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Comforter in Treasure Island and Bedford Lodge 574, F&AM, in Brooklyn. Immel is survived by his wid ow and a brother, Joseph, of Sausalito, Calif. Beach Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrange ments.
