Bio: Deborah Ann Hoerner, 55, of Billings, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, June 6, 2006. She was born March 25, 1951, in Dickinson, N.D., to George and Mary (Hecker) Schaff.Debbie attended school in Fryburg and Belfield, N.D., graduating from St. Mary's High School in New England, N.D. After graduation, she moved to Billings, where she attended and graduated from Billings Business College.Debbie married Ralph Hoerner on Aug. 17, 1974, in Belfield. She worked for Gillis Aviation, Ortt Kanuit & Company, and Ryan Restaurant Corporation, retiring in 2000. Debbie was known as a fighter as she never gave up on the struggles she had for the past 33 years with MS and the last seven years with cancer. The joy of Deb's life was spending time with her family, especially her grandson, and the many celebrations she shared at their family home. She also enjoyed a good game of pinochle. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.Deb is survived by her husband, Ralph; three children, Jeannette (Jeff) Gray of Missoula, Michael Hoerner and Brian Hoerner, both of Billings; one grandchild, Austin; her parents, George and Mary Schaff of Dickinson, N.D.; 11 brothers and sisters, Larry (Vicki) Schaff of Watford City, N.D., Gerald Schaff of Gillette, Wyo., Leland Schaff of Old Hickory, Tenn., Sandy (Dave) Crawford of Watertown, S.D., Sheila Schaff of Denver, Connie Dewey of Helena, Anna (Rod) Heupel of Tacoma, Wash., Susann (Keith) Wolf of Belfield, Rose Cusack of Aurora, Colo., Karen Weinhart of Gillette, Sharon (Carey) Decker of Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews.Her family would like to thank Kirsten, Beth, Mandy, Tom and the nurses and staff from Rocky Mountain Hospice.Prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, and funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, both at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery.Memorials in honor of Debbie may be made to Relay For Life, c/o Nora Molm, 4102 Jansma Ave., Billings, MT 59101 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1242 N. 28th, Billings, MT 59101.
