Bio: William E. "Bill" Marsh, 64, of Venus, Pinegrove Township went to be with his Lord at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He passed peacefully at home in God's presence following a courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oil City on January 5, 1949 to the late Austin L. and Helen I. (Pleger) Marsh. Bill attended Cranberry High School before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., a member of the Rockland Sportsman Club where he participated in many meat shoots, and a member of the American Tree Farmers Association. He attended Christ Fellowship Church in Venus. Bill was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, deer hunting, and fishing.  He had a fishing boat that he enjoyed taking out on Lake Erie, and made many trips to Batavia, New York to fish for salmon.  He was a NASCAR enthusiast and attended many races; he was also a gun collector.  He and his daughter were active in three-wheeler racing, and spent many weekends competing on the track.  He had a fond interest in antique cars, and was proud to still own the very first new automobile that he purchased, a 1971 Pontiac LeMans convertible.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them hunting, fishing, and riding ATV's. Mr. Marsh began working at his family's business, Marsh Lumber Company in Venus.  He also owned and operated the Marsh Tree Farm in Venus and grew and sold Christmas trees for many years; he and his family enjoyed the friendship of their many customers.  The tree farm closed due to his declining health in recent years.  He and his wife were an over-the-road team, driving tractor trailer together for a number of years.  He then became a teamster's driver and transported for Yellow Freight. Bill was married by Rev. Raymond Zeigler on July 25, 1970 at the Pine City Free Methodist Church to the former ****, who survives. **** In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Marsh; and an infant brother, Richard Marsh. Friends will be received Friday (Dec. 13) from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon in Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at noon with Pastor Denny Weaver, of Christ Fellowship Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.N.A. Hospice Program, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA  16323; or to Christ Fellowship Church, 2305 Old State Road, Venus PA  16364.Published in The Derrick - Friday, Dec. 13, 2013
