Simons, 92, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Fountain Springs Health Care in Rapid City. Louie was born at Winner, SD to John H. Simons and Helen Louise (Sauber) Simons. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1937. Louie married Hilda Hoff in 1941. He served in the US Army during World War II in the South Pacific. Louie and Hilda operated a farm/ranch in Perkins County until the late 50s. At that time they moved to Spearfish, SD and Louie was involved in the automobile business. In the 70s, Rapid City became their home for retirement. Survivors include his wife, Hilda Simons, Rapid City; daughter-in-law, Bonnie K. Simons, Rapid City; granddaughter, Jackie Castillo and her husband, Joe, Denver, CO; two great-granddaughters, Sara C. Reed, Carlsbad, NM and Maya Maline Simons, Rapid City; daughter-in-law, Jody McClendon and her children, Sagan and Eli McClendon, Rapid City; and sister, Helen Fried, Selfridge, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Louis M. Simons; and grandson Louis J. Simons in 2006. Closed casket visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Christian Wake service to start at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City with Father Tyler Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City with military honors.
