He was 88.He was born on Oct. 24, 1904, in Herreid, S.D., and had lived in the Oregon City area since 1943. He worked for Hawley Pulp & Paper for more than 20 years until his retirement in the 1960s. For the next 10 years, he was a self-employed television repairman.He was affiliated with the Oregon City Foursquare Church and a member of Local 68 of the Association of Western Pulp & Paper Workers. He married Marie Vilhauer in Herreid in 1927.
