Funeral mass for Mrs. George Schmaltz, 45, of Churchs Ferry were conducted Friday at 10 a.m. from the St. James Catholic Church in Minnewaukan with Fr. John Mullen officiating. Interment was also at Minnewaukan. 
Mrs. Schmaltz died at the Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake early last Tuesday morning, having been brought to the hospital Monday evening. She had suffered from asthma for 11 years. 
The former Mary Dexheimer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dexheimer, was born Aug. 19, 1909 at Towner, later moving to Granville. 
On July 21, 1930, she was married to George Schmaltz at Velva. Following their marriage they resided in Rolette, moving then to Thorne, N.D. In 1945 they came to their present farm home south of Churchs Ferry.  
Surviving Mrs. Schmaltz besides her husband, are 10 children: Irene (Mrs. Paul Streifel) of Minnewaukan; Agnes (Mrs. Jack Hager) of Penn; Lucille and Marion of Devils Lake; Georgia, Margaret, Jeanette, Phillip, Charles and Daniel at home. 
Toomey-Sorvick Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
