Roth, age 93, passed away Friday, July 27, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 30th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape, with funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape. Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate.Mr. Roth was born October 16, 1907, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Martin and Magdaline Walter Roth. He and Charlotte Popp were married July 30, 1942. Mrs. Roth passed away February 18, 1998.Loving survivors include one brother, Walter Roth of Cape; nephew, Marty Roth, and his wife, Betty; three great nephews, Christoper Roth, Brian Pingel and Kevin Pingel, all of Cape; and three special care giver, JoAnn Baugher, Jane Ingram, and Rosemary Masterson, all of Cape.Mr. Roth graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and taught school at Central High School for 12 years. He then entered the US Army and served in the North Africa Italian Campaign. He served as a Captain Major and retired after 32 years of service to his country.He worked for the Chrysler Corporation in Helena, Arkansas and Dayton, Ohio for 20 years and was a self-employed contractor in Dayton for 20 years, retiring in 1973 and returning to reside in Cape Girardeau. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice.
