James Wirth Services for James J. Wirth, 92, Prophetstown, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Prophetstown, where he was a member. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown, with a rosary at 7:30. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Wirth died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1992, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling. He was born March 10, 1900, in Tampico, the son of Jacob and Mary Messier Wirth. He married Edna Oberle Nov. 28, 1923, in Hooppole. She died in 1980. ; He had farmed in the Prophetstown area all his life. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council, No. 3916, Morrison; Antique Tractor and Engine Club, Atkinson; and of Whiteside County Farm Bureau ' for over 50 years. Survivors include sons, Lyle Wirth, Prophetstown, and Arlyn Wirth, Erie; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Giese and Gladys Iverson, both of Sterling; a brother, Edward Wirth, Wyanet; and a special friend, Arlene Hui-zenga.
