Birth: Apr. 1, 1928 McPherson County South Dakota, USA Death: Mar. 22, 2015 Aberdeen Brown County South Dakota, USA Obituary for Lavina Hoffman The funeral service for Lavina Hoffman, 86, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Kevin Bergeson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Lavina died Sunday, March 22 at Angelhaus Regional Basic Care Center, Aberdeen. Visitation will be 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St. Lavina Schaible was born April 1, 1928… to Emanuel and Tillie (Stadel) Schaible in Hosmer, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Leola and attended country school in the area. On October 6, 1946, Lavina married Albert Hoffman at St. James Lutheran Church in Leola. They made their home on a farm near Leola for four years. They then bought Albert’s grandfather’s farm northwest of Leola. In the mid-1960s, they moved to Aberdeen. Lavina managed several clothing stores downtown. She then started working at Owen Angels which later changed their name to Herberger's. Lavina had to stop working due to health problems. Lavina was a past member of St. James Lutheran Church in Leola, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. She was a very talented artist. Lavina crocheted and made many beautiful paintings and other crafts. Grateful for having shared Lavina’s life are her husband, Albert Hoffman, Aberdeen, her daughter Sharon (Jim) Stoecker of Aberdeen and her grandson, DeJay Stoecker (special friend Lisa Kucker) of Watertown, SD. Lavina was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Tillie Schaible and her sister Gloria Lippert. Family links: Parents: Emanuel G.
