The funeral for Gilbert Hildahl of LaMoure, ND, will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, ND, with Reverend Roy Noel officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery
Gilbert Morris Hildahl, son of Monrad and Annie (Christopherson) Hildahl was born in the family home between Crookston and Mentor, Minnesota on August 19, 1928. He attended country school near Mentor until 1937, when he moved with his family to Griswald, North Dakota. Gilbert finished his schooling in Griswald, and then worked for various farmers in the area. He was united in marriage to Irene Ketterling on September 3, 1950 at LaMoure, North Dakota. They made their home in Valley City, North Dakota, where Gilbert was employed with C.H. Carpenter Lumber. In the mid 1950's, they moved to LaMoure, and Gilbert worked for Hird Implement and also Meyer Equipment until his retirement in 1993.
Gilbert passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, North Dakota. He was 82 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, Steve (Diane) Hildahl, Jamestown, ND; two daughters, Delphine (Jerry) Hagen, Moorhead, MN and Teresa Johnson, Underwood, ND; a brother, Owen (Carol) Hildahl, Grand Rapids, MI; a sister, Hazel Hildahl, Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Orvin, three sisters, Carla Hildahl, Mildred Ellingson, and Beatrice Burgess, an infant brother, an infant sister, and a son-in-law, Lyle Johnson.
