Elsie Ruby Hoffman was born Feb. 3, 1918, the daughter of John and Katherine Hoffman, Napoleon, N.D. She graduated from Streeter High School and attended Bismarck (N.D.) School of Nursing. She served in the U.S. Navy as a registered nurse with the Veteran's Hospital, San Diego, for many years. She married Harry Burkhart. He died in 1976. She is survived by a sister, Clara (Harold) Martin, Ashley, N.D.; and a brother, Roy, Minot, N.D. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Gertrude Becker, and eight other siblings. Services: Tuesday, Pacific Beach Mortuary Chapel, San Diego.
