James D. Ems 
James D. (Jim) Ems, 70, Central, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at his home. 
 
Born May 7, 1945, in New Salisbury, he was the son of the late James Gerald and Doris Irene Mosier Ems. 
 
He was formerly employed at Norstam Veneers near Mauckport, G.E. in Louisville, National Linen in Alabama and “The Pub” in Corydon; was an auxiliary policeman in Rogersville, Ala.; was a licensed auctioneer in Indiana and Kentucky; and was a member of God’s Church in Corydon, the NRA and the Killen Masonic Lodge No. 788 F&AM of Alabama. He and his wife also owned and operated Best Bid Auction in Corydon for eight years. 
 
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Dunaway and Bonnie Saulman, and a grandson, Bentley Stofel. 
 
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, the former Tanda Williams; three sons, Anthony Ems (Manuela) of Idar, Germany, Scott Phipps of Irvington, Ky., and Danny Phipps (Amanda) of Central; two daughters, Yvette Stigdon (Curtis) of Paris Crossing and Kristen Atwell of Central; a sister, Glenda Laswell of Corydon; 14 grandchildren, Patrick, Paige, Erica, Curtis, Chris, Nathan, Audrey, Bailey, Cloe, Wyatt, Aubree, Hailey, Leeann and Dillon; and two great-grandchildren, Kadence and Kyhanne. 
 
Memorial service: Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at God’s Church in Corydon with burial in New Amsterdam Cemetery. 
 
Arrangements: Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. 
 
The family suggests memorial gifts to the family or Heth-Washington Elementary School.
