- [S927] Obituary.
Lux, George A. (Bud)
Rochester: July 26, 2007, at the age of 82. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Bud was predeceased by his precious wife, Fran. He is survived by his adoring family: his children, Marci Lux Diehl, Ellen Lux, and son, Jim Lux. He was "Papa" to his grandsons, Matt (Sheryl) Diehl, John G. Diehl, Graham (Lori) Diehl, Colin Diehl, Adam Fruscella, and granddaughter Kate Fruscella; his very special loves, great-grandchildren Nathan Mitchell Diehl and Maya Lynn Diehl. He is also survived by his brothers, Roy A. Lux (Helen), and Paul D. Lux (Gloria); nieces and a nephew; and a legion of dear friends.
Bud was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served as a medic on the USS Dickman, the USS Swayze, the USS Sloan, based in Glasgow, Scotland. He served at all four of the invasions of the European Theatre, including D Day. He retained a life-long love of the Navy, Scotland, and history. He was an expert on the Civil War, a voracious reader, and a natural teacher. He retired from Eastman Kodak after 43 years, and spent the rest of his life being an example of everything a good man should be. Everyone who truly knew him loved him.
Special thanks to Dr. Brian Yrinik, and especially to the staff and angel nurses at the Pluta Cancer Center, Gail, Kitty and Marti, who gave him such love and affection and filled a place for him after he lost Fran. You meant more than you know.
Family and friends are invited to call Friday, August 3, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. 3325 Winton Road South. Bud's Memorial Mass will be held in St. Boniface Church, 330 Gregory St., on Saturday August 4, 2007 at 10 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Bud may be directed to The Pluta Cancer Center; St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT; or the Finger Lakes Land Trust.
