Birth: Jul. 7, 1910 Suffield Portage County Ohio, USA Death: Nov. 3, 2007 Dayton Montgomery County Ohio, USA Rhodes, S.M., Rev. Edmund Leo, age 97, of Dayton, Ohio, died November 3, 2007, at Mercy Siena Woods. Born July 1910 in Suffield, Ohio, son of the late Louis and Anna (Michael) Rhodes. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Father Ed entered the Society of Mary and professed first vows on August 15, 1929; perpetual vows on August 15, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio and was ordained to the priesthood on July 27, 1941 in Fribourg, Switzerland. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1934 and from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. with an S.T.L. in Philosophy in 1942. Fr. Ed taught at schools in Washington, D.C., New York, Ohio, Iowa and Pennsylvania. He served in various capacities at the University of Dayton, from 1947 to 1983. Besides teaching, he also served as Chairman of the Philosophy Department, Assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences in 1952 and Dean of Arts and Sciences from 1953 to 1958. Father Ed began his pastoral ministry in 1983 when he became associate pastor at St. Aloysius Parish in Cleveland, Ohio and later Nativity Parish in Hollywood, Florida. In 1990 he retired, eventually he residing at Mercy-Siena in Dayton, Ohio. Visitation will take place at Immaculate Conception Chapel on the campus of the University of Dayton on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at Immaculate Conception Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Following the service burial will take place at Queen of Heaven cemetery at Mt.
