Viola Stein, 61, 1920 Meadowlark Drive, Minot, ND, died Saturday, September 19, 1998 in a Parshall care center.
She was born August 5, 1937, in Mandan to Matt and Rose (Hellman) Geiger. She was raised there and graduated from Mandan High School in 1955. She married Robert William Stein on October 18, 1955, in Mandan. They moved to Minot for a short time and had 2 daughters. They later moved to Twin Buttes, ND, where she spent 5 of her most memorable years. Viola and Robert enjoyed the people, fishing, and the overall lifestyle in that area. One son was born in Twin Buttes. They moved again to Minot where the youngest son was born. While living in Minot, the family remained active in camping and fishing. She was employed as a supervisor and salesperson for the Playhouse Toy Company from 1970 to 1981 in Minot. She and her husband owned and operated the Casa Motel from 1975 to 1990. Viola enjoyed collecting beautiful glassware and antiques. She moved to the Rock View Good Samaritan Center of Parshall in December 1994. Viola was known for her outgoing personality, and being a good-natured person. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.
Survivors: husband of Minot; 2 sons, Bryan and Bruce, both of Minot; 2 daughters, Diane Brittian of Wichita, KS and Patricia Graves of Minot; 7 grandchildren; mother of Mandan; 3 brothers, William "Bill" of Mandan, Daniel and Melvin, both of Minot; and 1 sister, Lorraine Landeis of Mandan.
Funeral: Tuesday at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Pallbearers: Wayne Ferderer, Wesley Geiger, Allen Stein, Darryl Landeis, Warren Geiger, & Jeff Stein.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Today from 1 to 8:30 pm in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
