She was 86. Berta was born April 12, 1926 to Thomas and Marian (Langang) Schmidt in Mandan, N.D. She married James Amble August 25, 1943 in Seattle, Wash. Berta worked for the Department of Defense in Upland, Calif. until retiring in 1987. She was a talented artist and enjoyed working in the garden. She was preceded in death by her husband along with five brothers and sisters. Survivors include five children: Davey Ann Ehni of Northridge, Calif., Dianna Mae Howard of Southlake , Texas, James Raymond Amble of Chino, Calif., Jay Stanton Amble of Phoenix, Ariz., and Deborah Kay Sorochman of Grove, Okla. Along with 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday May 12, 2012 at the Nichols Funeral Home in Grove. Father Alex Kennedy officiated. Grove - Berta Amble, 86, Department of Defense contract administrator, died Monday. Service 11 a.m. Saturday, Nichols Funeral Home Chapel.
