Poseyville News dated Sept. 21, 1945:
Mrs. Mary Kemmerling Stallings, 80, widow of John Logan Stallings succumbed at an Evansville hospital during Wednesday night. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. She had been removed to the hospital two weeks ago. She was a life long resident of Posey county. A native of Harmony township, she had spent most of her life on farms near Stewartsville and Poseyville. Since retirement from active farm duties she had lived in Poseyville. A most devout memeber of the Poseyville Primitive Baptist church she never missed a service during a long life. She lived according to fine Christian ideals and won respect and affection from the entire communities where she had resided. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Primitive Baptist church here with the pastor, Elder Jake Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Stewartsville cemetery by the side of her husband who died December of last year. Surviving are two sons, Larkin Stallings, west of town, and Charles Stallings, of Birmingham, Ala.
