John Paul Kistler, Sr., 75, went peacefully to the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 14, 2011 following a brief illness in Johnson City, TN. Paul was born June 25, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and shortly thereafter moved to Vero Beach, FL, the place he would call home for the next 45 years.

Paul was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Helen Church in Vero Beach and a loving husband, father and friend to many. He was a realtor in Vero for over 30 years, finding joy in helping other put roots down in the town he had come to grow so fond of. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, playing bridge and golf, acting in the Vero Beach Theater Guild and as a longtime member of the Quarterback Club-Our Fighting Indians Football Team. He also coached local youth athletics for over a decade. He was proud to see so many of those he had mentored go on to achieve such great things here. Paul was happiest however in retirement, for the free time afforded him the chance to do what he loved most-spreading the Gospel. Whether it be through his prison ministry work, time spent at our local soup kitchen, or simply talking to a stranger who he felt may have lost his way, he tried his humble best to share the special gift of God's love with those around him. He touched the lives of many in his all too short 75 years here with us.

He will be especially missed by those closest to him: His loving wife and companion, Geraldine, his two devoted and eternally grateful sons, John Jr and Timothy, his four cherished and uniquely special brothers and sisters, Donald Kistler, Wayne Kistler, Joline Frederick and Karen Egan, his four wonderful step-children, Joseph, Patrick, Theresa and Camille. He leaves behind countless other nephews, nieces, in-laws and dear friends. All of the above enriched his life more than they will ever know. Paul rests now in heaven, along side his beloved parents, Edward and Irma. The comfort that provides him cannot be put into words.

Please join us in remembering Paul on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 4-7p at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A prayer service will take place at 6:30p. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated the following morning on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Helen Catholic Church. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero, followed by a reception in the North Room of St. Helen.
