Daughter of Johann Schiermeister and Eva Humann Schiermeister
Johanna was born at Zeeland, ND, on November 4, 1905. She was baptized in the Zeeland Lutheran Church on March 18, 1906, and raised in Hazelton, ND, where she met and married Fredrick Grossman in 1925. Johanna and Fredrick had four children: Gladys, Arley, Erwin and Lorraine. Fredrick died in 1937 so Johanna moved from the farm to Hazelton where she raised the children. Eventually, Johanna moved to Seattle, Washington, to be near her family and there she met and married Louis Engelke. Johanna and Louis settled in Pasco where they remained until Louis' death in 1986. Johanna then moved back to North Dakota and settled in Bismarck where she passed away on 16 Jan 1990
