Olivia Viola Pryor
(June 6, 1922 - October 3, 2006)
Olivia Viola Pryor was born on June 6, 1922 at Eureka, South Dakota, the daughter of Adam J. and Emma (Nehlich) Preszler. She was one of two children. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka, South Dakota in 1922. She affirmed her baptismal covenant through the Rite of Confirmation in the same church in 1936. In 1942 she moved to Spokane, Washington where she worked in retail with Kresge and met her future husband Ralph W. Pryor while serving as a USO volunteer.
On November 5, 1944 she married Ralph William Pryor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fresno, CA. To this union was born one son, Gary.
At the end of World War II in 1945, Ralph and Olivia moved to Sand Springs, OK. She was employed for a time with Kresses in downtown Tulsa, Commander Mills, and with C. R. Anthony. She spent most of her life as a full time homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. In 1984, Olivia and Ralph became charter members of Saint Andrew Lutheran Church in Sand Springs. At Saint Andrew. Olivia became active in the Xtra years of Zest Senior Citizens group. She was active in assisting in the preparation of the church newsletter and maintained the Nursery roll. After her husbands death in 1995 she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to be near her family. She resided at the Williamsburg Senior Living Community and attended the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Baton Rouge.
Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, Adam J. and Emma (Nehlich) Preszler, her brother Maynard and her husband of 50 years, Ralph. Olivia suffered a fall in May of 2006 which led to deteriorating health. She died, Tuesday October 3 at Our Lady of the Fake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After a funeral service at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, Olivia will he buried at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Sand Springs under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs
Olivia is survived by her son and daughter in law, Gary and Susan (Kirchner) Pryor, and grandchildren Adam and Laura. all of Baton Rouge.
