Kim Edward Rath was born November 8, 1954 to Edward and Erna (Rudolf) Rath at Wishek, ND. He was raised on their small grains / commercial cattle farm located seven miles west and one mile south of Wishek. Kim graduated from Wishek HS in 1972 and remained engaged in farming, becoming the third generation to occupy the Rath family farm.
Kim married Marilyn Schon on February 16, 2008 at Turtle Lake, ND. Kim served on the Wishek School Board and was presently serving on the Wishek City Council. He was a proud member of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association. Kim was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church at Wishek, ND.
Kim died from complications of West Nile, Friday, February 8, 2013 surrounded by his family at Kindred Hospital, Mandan, ND. He was 58 years old.
Kim is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Wishek, ND; four children, Bridgette (Randy) Readel, Hunter, ND; Nathan (Megan) Rath, Wishek, ND; Kary (Carl) Lindgren, Ashley, ND; Timothy (Ashley) Rath, Wishek, ND; two step children, Angie Schon, Bismarck, ND; Eric Schon, Mercer, ND; six grandchildren, Cody Readel, Jessica Readel, Marshall Lindgren, Cheyanne Lindgren, Kaitlyn Rath and Olivia Rath; one brother, Jayson (Diane) Rath, Bismarck, ND; three sisters, Patricia (Gary) Ritter, Bismarck, ND; Karen (Neal) Nelson, Minot, ND; Deborah (Marvin) Boser, West Fargo, ND; mother-in-law, Ella Nora Schatz, Bismarck, ND and several nieces and nephews.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Erna Rath.
