Bio: Rev. Michael Krank died on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson, ND. Funeral Mass for Father Krank, 84, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Most Reverend Paul A. Zipfel, Bishop of Bismarck, presiding. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson continuing from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. A Rosary and Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, one hour prior to the Mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, all in Dickinson. Father Krank was born on October 11, 1926, the son of Christian and Anna Mary (Heiser) Krank in Dickinson. He grew up in a family of fourteen in the Schefield area later attending schools in Dickinson. Father Krank graduated from high school at the Assumption Abbey, Richardton (1944 ? 1946). He attended St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1946 ? 1952. He received a B.A. degree in 1952. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 2, 1952, at the Church of St. Joseph, Dickinson, by the Most Reverend Lambert Hoch. His first assignment was assistant pastor at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, from June to August, 1952. He was then assigned as assistant pastor at St. Leo, Minot, from 1952 to 1954; St. Joseph, Dickinson, from 1954 to 1956; and St. Mary, Bismarck, from 1956 to 1958. He also taught at St. Mary's Central High School, Bismarck, from 1956 to 1966. Father Krank was then appointed administrator at St. Vincent, Crown Butte, from 1958 to 1966. He was then appointed administrator at St. Aloysius, Hague, from 1966 to 1973, and then appointed pastor of St. Mary, Hague, from 1973 to 1978. On June 29, 1966, Father Krank was appointed superintendent in charge of the administration of the new Emmons Central High School, Strasburg, ND. In July of 1978, he served as pastor of St. Michael, rural Linton, and its mission, St. Aloysius, Hague, and continuing there until August, 1985. He was then appointed pastor of St. Joseph, Dickinson, until June, 1990. Father Krank was appointed pastor of St. Henry, Regent, from June, 1990 to July, 1997. Father Krank retired July 1, 1997 and moved to Emmaus Place, Bismarck, and later moved to Dickinson. He always desired to reach out to distant family members and get more acquainted with them and cherished the new friendships. Father Krank had a great sense of humor and always came ready with a new joke to tell. He enjoyed football and was a big supporter of the local team wherever he resided and wasn't afraid to tell the local coach what he was doing wrong should the subject come up. Father Krank was a big fan of Lawrence Welk and had the opportunity to meet him several times. He enjoyed traveling as well as showing his slides to the family when he returned home. Survivors include, two brothers, Martin (Elsie) Krank and Joe (Dorothy) Krank all of Dickinson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Steve, Frank, Casper and Richard; five sisters, Rose Roache, Margret Hirsch, Mary Ehresman, Sister Clementine and Ann Jahner and two infant babies
