He was retired as Director of Medtex Linen Services in Memphis, TN. He served in the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie D. Thomas (Timothy G.); one son, Robert E. Helman, both of Collierville, TN; two grandchildren, Michael H. Gildart and Killian P. Thomas; and two siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma F. Helman, parents Henry and Luie Pritt Helman, and three siblings.
