Gerald A. "Jerry" Schnur, 62, of East Butler died Monday afternoon at his home.
Born April 19, 1946, in Butler, he was a son of the late Lawrence "J.R." and Genevieve "Dee" Reott Schnur.
Mr. Schnur worked at the Pullman-Standard Car Company in Butler for 17 years. He next worked for Advocate Services in Butler for another 17 years. He then became the owner and operator of Jerry's Archery Shop and Jerry's Autobody Shop, which he ran out of his home for the past 12 years.
Jerry loved the outdoors and was an avid archer, hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, the Oneida Bow Hunters and the Pennsylvania Archery Association. He also greatly enjoyed restoring old cars.
His wife, Phyllis A. Codispot Schnur, whom he married June 14, 1972, survives him. Also surviving are a daughter, Deanna Devereaux and her husband, Rob Fogleman, of Durango, Colo.; two sons and their wives, Rich and Kelly Schnur, and Chad E. and Kimberly Schnur, all of Butler; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Helen Schnur of Butler; and four grandchildren, Matthew C. Pritts, Bethany J. Burzese, Summer M. Schnur, and Lacee S. Schnur. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.
His brother, Bob Schnur, preceded him in death.
SCHNUR - Friends of Gerald "Jerry" A. Schnur, who died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Butler V.N.A. Hospice for all their help and support during Jerry's illness.
