Birth: Apr. 3, 1923 Sapulpa Creek County Oklahoma, USA Death: Mar. 27, 1994 Pekin Tazewell County Illinois, USA MAPLETON -- Leonard L. Norton, 70, of 7617 W. Astle Lane died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 1994, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin. Born April 3, 1923, in Sapulpa, Okla., to Harrison and Amanda Ross Norton, he married Alta M. Gohde on April 19, 1942, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are one brother, Joe of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry, in 1964; two brothers; and one sister. He worked for CPC International in Pekin for 38 years, retiring as a pipefitter in July 1979. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Kingston Mines United Methodist Church, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Michelle Oberwise-Frank will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin and one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at Kingston Mines Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his church.
