Birth: Aug. 24, 1904 Mapleton Peoria County Illinois, USA Death: Oct. 4, 2000 Pekin Tazewell County Illinois, USA KINGSTON MINES - Fred L. Gohde Jr., 96, formerly of 300 Third St., died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. Born Aug. 24, 1904, in Mapleton to Fred Sr. and Anna Zimmerman Gohde, he married Della Lumbard on Jan. 2, 1926, in Peoria. She died Oct. 24, 1989, in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by one son, Harold in 1966, two great-grandsons, two sisters and one brother. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Alta) Tactes of Mapleton; one granddaughter, Bonnie Smith of Topeka; and one great-grandson. He worked as a coal miner in the Mapleton area for several years and was employed as a mechanic for Ohio River Co. for many years. Burials will be at Kingston Mines Cemetery.
