Birth: Apr. 3, 1925 Forest City Mason County Illinois, USA Death: May 1, 2006 Havana Mason County Illinois, USA Havana, IL - Nelson DeVore, 81, of 517 S. Promenade St., Havana, IL died at 2:05 am Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born April 3, 1925 in Forest City, IL the son of Charles Ray and Lillian Gown DeVore. He married Jeanine Bastard, he later married Janet E. Lowder April 14, 1955 and she preceded him in death Dec. 29, 2002. Mr. DeVore owned and operated DeVore Heating and Air Conditioning in Havana for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. He was a member of Havana Post #6408. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Lynn) Ashby of Springfield, TN; Cynthia (Edward) Kinsella of Dalton, MA and Dianna Gehret of Havana, IL. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one brother, Gene DeVore of Kenosha, WI; and two sisters, Carol Nissen of Manito, IL and Norma Croce of Hartford, CT also survive. He was preceded in death by one dau. Sonjia DeVore, one sister Nancy, and four brothers, Donald, Harold, Earl and James. Services will be held on Wed. May 3, 2006 at 9:00 am at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 pm on Tues at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.
