Funeral services will be held August 13, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. MT at the Hettinger Lutheran Church in Hettinger, ND. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate and burial will be in the Bucyrus, ND Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-7:30 MDT on August 12 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND. Alma Jane Oster was born August 25, 1930, to Julius and Emelia (Hoff) Oster in Perkins County, SD. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1949. On October 2, 1949 Alma Jane married Paul Roehl at the Grand River Lutheran Church. Throughout her lifetime, Alma Jane worked at Bracewell's Café, the Mecca Bar, Ray's Motel, and the Hettinger Hospital. She retired from the food service department at the hospital. In August, 1999, Alma Jane moved to the Liberty Heights Apartments in Mandan where she resided until her illness. She is well known for her homemade doughnuts and her excellent card playing. Alma enjoyed bingo and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. Alma Jane is survived by her five children?Paulette (Jim) Lysne, Cheyenne, WY; Roger (Vicki), Mandan, ND; Wanda (Gary) Wuitschick, Harvey, ND; Sharon (Blair) Brattvet, Grand Forks, ND; and Paul Jr. (Cheryl), Mandan, ND as well as 11 grandchildren, John and Jim Lysne, Jody and Jerome Wuitschick, Jolene Ovitt, Stephanie Lopez, Sonya Sherva, Brooke and Aaron Brattvet, Jason and Stacey Roehl and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Virginia, Billings, MT and brother Don, Snoqualmie, WA. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, sisters Lorraine, Frances, and Pearl, and her brother John. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Alexius Hospice Program in Bismarck, ND.
