JEFFERSONVILLE EVENING NEWS OBITUARY – 07/12/1976 
Funeral services for Frank Anthony Ernstberger, 79, of Corydon, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Corydon, with burial in the church cemetery. He died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison County Hospital, Corydon. Ernstberger was a retired farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors are his wife, the former Mildred Kochert, four sons, Vernon Ernstberger, Tell City, Huston Ernstberger, Georgetown, Gilbert Ernstberger, Clarksville and Paul Ernstberger, New Albany; seven daughters, Mrs. Iona Miller, Elizabeth, Mrs. Jane Ponto, Fowler, Mrs. Ruth Shewmaker, Carmel, Mrs. Melva Gates, Indianapolis, Mrs. Annette Akers, Sellersburg, Mrs. Rita Drury, Jeffersonville and Mrs. Nancy Mathews, New Albany; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hauswald, New Albany; 59 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Corydon, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today and rosary by the Knights of Columbus will be held at 8:30 p.m. today. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Heart Fund.

Frank Anthony Ernstberger, 79, of Corydon, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at Harrison County Hospital here. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Kochert, four sons, Vernon of Tell City, Huston of Georgetown, Gilbert of Clarksville and Paul of New Albany; seven daughters Mrs. Iona Miller of Elizabeth, Mrs. Jane Ponto of Fowler, Mrs. Ruth Shewmaker of Carmel, Mrs. Melva Gates of Indianapolis, Mrs. Annette Akers of Sellersburg, Mrs. Rita Drury of Jeffersonville and Mrs. Nancy Mathews of New Albany; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hauswald of New Albany; 59 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church here. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. tonight followed by rosary services by the Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p.m. at Gehlbach and Royce Funeral Home.

Frank Anthony Ernstberger, 79, Corydon, died Sunday, 2:05 p.m. at Harrison County Hospital. Born March 4, 1897 in Georgetown, he was a retired farmer and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the son of George and Matilda Ott Ernstberger. Survivors are his wife, the former Mildred Kochert; four sons, Vernon Ernstberger, Tell City, Huston Ernstberger, Georgetown, Gilbert Ernstberger, Clarksville and Paul Ernstberger, New Albany; seven daughters, Mrs. Iona Miller, Elizabeth, Mrs. Jane Ponto, Fowler, Ind., Mrs. Ruth Shewmaker, Carmel, Ind., Mrs. Melva Gates, Indianapolis, Mrs. Annette Akers, Sellersburg, Mrs. Rita Drury, Jeffersonville and Mrs. Nancy Mathews, New Albany; 59 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hauswald, New Albany. The funeral was held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Corydon, with Father Ernest Strahl officiating. The scripture reading was held Monday, 7:30 p.m. with the rosary by the K of C at 8:30 p.m. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael, Gregory, and Patrick Ernstberger, Terry Miller, Kevin Ponto and Donald Shewmaker. The family requested that expressions of sympathy take forms of contributions to the Heart Fund.
