Birth: Oct. 15, 1917 Death: Oct. 10, 2005 Anchorage Daily News October 13, 2005 Eva Mae Peterson, 87, died Oct. 10, 2005, at her Anchorage residence. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was at Holy Family Cathedral. The Rev. Donald Bramble, O.P., officiated. She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Glen Ullin, N.D., and came to Anchorage in 1953. In the 1960s, she owned with her husband, Mel Peterson, the City View Market. She was a volunteer at the Anchorage Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and dancing. According to her family: "Arriving in the burgeoning town of Anchorage in 1953, Eva carved out a life for herself and her family. Hardworking, honest and loving, she will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren." Her family added that she is much loved. Mrs. Peterson is survived by her sons, Clifford Anderson, Gary Peterson and Dennis Peterson; daughters, Pauline Moore and Penny Zirk; grandsons, Nick Nevills, Alex Peterson, Gene Anderson and Brian Anderson; granddaughters, Tammy Brooks, Lori Estafano and Casey Nevills; and many great-grandchildren. She was laid to rest next to her husband at Angelus Memorial Park at a later date. Arrangements are with Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
