Paul D. Stein, 73, Minot, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness with his loving family by his side.
Paul was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Mandan, the son of John V. and Margaret (Boehm) Stein. Paul joined the North Dakota National Guard Army Reserves and later joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1961. Paul was working at the Minot Air Force Base fire station upon retiring in January 1999 after serving 32 years of federal service.
He married Judith Schultz on Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mandan. They have two sons, Michael and Jeffrey, and a daughter, Deborah.
Paul was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot. He loved to fish and pheasant hunt. He enjoyed boating, camping and campfires. He went to Alaska to fish in August to finish his "Bucket List."
Paul is survived by: his wife, Judith Stein, Minot; sons, Michael Stein, Minot, and Jeffrey Stein, Fargo; daughter, Deborah Stein, Minot; granddaughters, Margaret Sharpe, of Michigan, Mariah and Alexah Stein, both Fargo; grandson, Jeffrey S. Stein, Minot; sister, Ann Frank, Dickinson; sister-in-law, Mary Stein, Mandan.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert and Daniel Stein.
Funeral: Thursday, June 7, at 9:30 a.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.
Burial: Thursday, 3 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 6, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Little Flower Catholic Church, Trinity Kidney Dialysis Unit or Trinity Hospice, all of Minot.
