Lydic, 84, of Leetonia, died at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the emergency room of the Salem Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Cherry Tree, Pa., daughter of the late Paul and Beulah (Keating) Lydic. Velma attended Green Township High School and was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church and the Dulci-More Folk Musicians. Her husband, James Blair Lydic, whom she married Sept. 9, 1950, preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2001. A son, James Howard Lydic, and two sisters, Arlene Foley and Gaynell Lawrence, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Edwin (Chris) Lydic of Salem; two daughters, Judy (Richard) Davis of Salem and Amy (David) Shoaff of Leetonia; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hart of Salem; a sister, Clarissa Wetzel of Edinburg, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Scott Davis, Rebecca (Jamie) Spencer, Amanda Lydic and Adam Lydic. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
