  BIOGRAPHY: Peter Breiner was born on August 28, 1832 in Erlenbach and came to the United States with his family when he was about nine years old. He had minimal or no education and never learned to read and write, not even his name (He witnessed his brother, John's marriage with his mark, "X".) There is not any recorded deed in the Sullivan County Clerk's Office to indicate that he owned his own farm. He most likely lived on his sister, Barbara's farm in Obernberg, New York. About 1869 he married Sarah Young who was born in Bavaria. They had one child, Katherine born on November 23, 1870. Katherine Breiner married John Holpp in Brooklyn.
